TE DAMOS FLOR DE MANO

Es más fuerte que yo. Estoy muy orgulloso del número de La Mano de Octubre y quiero comentárselos. Además, me hicieron laburar como nunca. Por fin pude publicar mi nota/reportaje a DORY PREVIN, una muy importante cantautora de culto que por fin, y poco a poco, está recibiendo el reconocimiento que merece su arte. También hay una nota con un análisis tema por tema del primer álbum de PINK FLOYD The Piper at the Gates of Dawn con motivo de su reciente reedición, a 40 años de su salida original, en forma de CD doble (y también triple, en una edición especial que incluye singles, lados B, etc.) donde resalta una vez más el gran genio creador de Syd Barrett. En el mismo número de La Mano, aprovechamos la reciente visita de CAETANO VELOSO para hacerle un reportaje a fondo donde el bahiano despliega su reconocida sabiduría planetaria y, como si fuera poco, hay un suplemento especial dedicado a THE POLICE, anticipando el retorno de Sting, Summers y Copeland a la Argentina y rememborando su famosa visita de diciembre del '80. Así, que, aunque no hayan podido venir a nuestra fiesta celebratoria de 40 números en la calle, siempre tu quiosco amigo está dispuesto a darte LA MANO (a cambio de unas pocas rupias que, hoy por hoy, ni siquiera compran un kilo de tomates!). COMENZAMOS OCTUBRE CON TODO!

Así es: este primer domingo de octubre, La Casa del Rock Naciente desborda de estrenos: dos grandes cruzados del rock Canterburiano retornan con nuevos álbumes. Comicopera es lo nuevo de Robert Wyatt. El ex-Soft Machine armó una obra conceptual que reúne dieciséis composiciones, divididas en tres actos, “Lost In Noise”, “The Here and the Now” y “Away With the Fairies” que, según su autor, trata acerca de “las imprevisibles travesuras de la vida. De los seres humanos y de las cosas que hacemos en nuestra búsqueda de diversión, estímulos y explicaciones.” La lista de colaboradores incluye a Phil Manzanera, Brian Eno, Paul Weller y Anja Garbarek. También estrenaremos The Unfairground, primer larga duración que edita, en lo que va del siglo, otro miembro fundador de Soft Machine, Kevin Ayers, una perla de letras incandescentes y melodías deliciosas. Eso por no hablales del nuevo CD de Joni Mitchell. Después de un hiato de cinco años, la genial cantautora canadiense se despachó con Shine, un álbum pleno de sus habituales reflexiones sobre nuestras vidas y nuestro tiempo que, como un guiño a sus grandes clásicos, incluye además de ocho nuevas composiciones, una "remake" del hit "Big yellow taxi". Espero que nos de el tiempo también para explayarnos sobre el nuevo álbum de ese gran músico inglés llamado Nick Lowe. Se llama At My Age y -como sugiere el nombre- abunda en maduras cavilaciones sobre la vida y el paso del tiempo. A todo esto, seguiremos recorriendo el nuevo disco de P. J. Harvey, White Chalk y varios discos recientes de músicos argentinos que nos han fascinado en estas últimas semanas, como Alejandro Terán, Gabo Ferro, Mariana Baraj y Carmen Baliero, entre otros. Tendremos un Identikit dedicado al gran maestro albino del blues, Johnny Winter, hablaremos de varios artistas que lograron sortear la temible "maldición del segundo álbum" y nuestra sección El
Arbol y el Bosque estará dedicada a un gran disco de rock sinfónico inglés que mucha gente no conoce: Tresspass, de Genesis. Y eso es sólo el comienzo. Habrá música de Blur, White Stripes, The Detroit Cobras, Gilberto Gil, Saltamontes, Dave Douglas y John Scofield, además de un reportaje al "gato reaparecido", Gaetano Kay Galifi, quien nos contará detalles de su álbum solista Amazonas recién editado, que estará presentando el próximo martes 9 de octubre, a las 21 hs. en La Forja, Bacacay 2414, muy cerca de la plaza de Flores. PALPITANDO EL DOMINGO 2 DE SEPTIEMBRE

Muchas cosas para atraer vuestra amable atención, queridos oyentes. Hoy, aprovechando la tímida aparición de los primeros calorcitos, tendremos una sección especial dedicada al Rock y las Vacaciones. En primicia absoluta, adelantaremos temas del primer álbum solista de Emma Pollock, la ex-cantante de The Delgados y en Fila Cero tendremos no uno, sino dos recitales: Magazine, grupo emblemático del post-punk manchesteriano, directamente desde su ciudad natal, en un recital de 1978 furioso y genial. El otro concierto estará a cargo del gran Van Morrison y fue registrado a mediados de los '70 en un período artísticamente muy productivo para el ex fundador de Them. Además les presentaremos la flamante serie de reediciones de EMI de rock nacional, con álbumes de Raúl Porchetto, Juan Carlos Baglietto, Jorge Pinchevsy, Bubu, Alas, Polifemo, etc., muchos de ellos nunca antes editados en CD. Analizarmos la trayectoria de una base rítmica histórica: Tim Bogert y Carmine Appice, quienes tocaron con todo el mundo, de Jeff Beck a nuestro mismísimo Carpo, Humberto Pappo Napolitano. Y además, la visita de Caetano Veloso, con declaraciones exclusivas y varias novedades más para todos ustedes. Como ven, dormir es un lujo que, en la madrugada del sábado al domingo, ¡ no pueden darse! Yo sé por qué se los digo. ¡Nos vemos en un rato!

Mucho de todo en La Casa de este domingo. Una gran base rítmica, la de Tim Bogert y Carmine Appice, es analizada a través del tiempo, con temas de Vanilla Fudge, Cactus, Beck, Bogert & Appice y hasta Pappo, Bogert & Appice! Presentaremos el nuevo álbum del joven bluesman Joe Bonamassa, que se llama Sloe Gin y que trae versiones de temas de Bad Company, John Martyn y John Mayall, además de varias joyitas propias. También estrenaremos Under the Blacklight, nuevo CD de Rilo Kiley, una de las grandes bandas de la escena de Los Angeles, con su deliciosa fusión de pop, folk y rock y la presencia de la exquisita cantante Jenny Lewis. Gracias! Nos volvemos a encontrar mañana chez Gillespi en Falso Impostor, minutos más, minutos menos a eso de las 19:30 hs.

MASTICANDO EL DOMINGO 19 DE AGOSTO

Hola a todos. Fue una semana de proyectos y de conseguir mucha música. Este domingo tendremos una triple presentación rosarina, con los álbumes nuevos de El Regreso del Coelacanto (Bailen Giles), Los Sucesores de la Bestia (Promesas, Mentiras Y Café) y Degradé (La Hora Azul). También tendremos -recién bajadas del avión- las novedades del sello de avant-garde CUNEIFORM, entre las que figura la reedición de un gran encuentro entre dos personalidades de la escena de fusión jazz-rock de Canterbury: Steve Miller y Lol Coxill. Se trata de dos álbumes en uno, The Story So Far... / Oh Really?, que ambos maestros realizaron allá por 1975. Ahora vuelven remasterizados y transformados en un CD doble con el agregado de grabacions individuales de ambos músicos más sus colaboraciones con el grupo de avanzada Delivery. Pero tenemos mucho más para todos ustedes: un Identikit con Miguel Abuelo, que recorrera de punta a punta la carrera de este gran músicode nuestro rock e incluirá sus propias palabras y poemas; el estreno de In The Palace Of the King, último álbum de esa leyenda del blues inglés que se llama John Mayall. Y retornará la sección El Árbol y el Bosque con ese gran disco de Alice Cooper que se llamó Muscle of Love. Y para quienes duden de que queremos tirar la casa por la ventana, les comento que tendremos un bloque con grupos progresivos un poco olvidados, como Barclay James Harvest, Atomic Rooster, Quiet Sun y Keef Hartley Band; surcaremos el mardel jazz argentino con Esto Es Lo Que Hay sabroso CD que editaron Norberto Machline, Alejandro Herrera y Pocho Lapouble. Y habrá más, mucho más en la edición de este domingo 19 de agosto en La Casa del Rock Naciente. ¡Arriba que tienen todo el domingo para dormir! Los espero justamente el domingo pero tempranito; a las 3:00 AM, momento en que abriremos los portales de La Casa del Rock Naciente... ¡En su décimo aniversario! ¡No falten!

ANTICIPANDO EL DOMINGO 12-08-07

Venimos dulces... Abundante material de novedades, entre ellas el álbum debut de la dulce nueva estrella del pop británico, KATE NASH. El CD se llama Made of Bricks y -además de estrenarlo- les contaremos de dónde viene y adónde va la dulce cantautora de suburbio londinense. Hoy hablaremos de LA CIUDAD, así con mayúsculas. De lo que representan las ciudades y de los temas musicales que se han asociado con ellas a través del tiempo y de las latitudes. Se viene la segunda parte de nuestro especial sobre los orígenes de LED ZEPPELIN con el relato del tipo al que le ofrecieron ser cantante de la banda... ¡¡ y dijo que no!! Se llamaba Terry Reid y hoy sabrán su historia. También ahondaremos en las raíces musicales del grupo de Plant, Page, Jones y Bonham. Qué música los inspiró, cómo y cuándo. Y ya que estamos en el corazón del blues blanco inglés, recorreremos los Años Dorados de una insigne banda llamada SAVOY BROWN. Pero esto es sólo el comienzo, porque tendremos al mango la sección FRENTE A FRENTE, con dos colosos del rock sinfónico, como Emerson, Lake & Palmer y Camel; tres momentos con una banda inglesa de los 90s que vuelve en estos días: THE VERVE y un informe completo de las recientes ediciones que se produjeron en nuestro país. Y si nos queda tiempo, también la emprenderemos con los artefactos de la primera era psicodélica estadounidense, la de los ignotos héroes de garaje del período 1965-1968. Todo, todo, todo esto en un ratito, a las 3 de la mañana del domingo. ¿Para qué dormir? No me fallen que los espero. Hasta luego. A.
